Project Audit

A project audit (financed by EU funds, via fondovieu, HAVC or other institutions) is the process of checking and verifying costs within the projects themselves.

The initial phase of the audit is the project application, followed by securing funds for its implementation and finally the implementation of the project itself, where, according to the requirements of the (co)financing Agreement, the party liable for the audit becomes the auditee. In order for all of the above phases to be in accordance with the contractual obligation, please feel free to contact us for advice.

Auditor's work

Our team of auditors specializes in the field of auditing grant-funded projects, with many years of experience in auditing projects in the public and private sectors.

Project audits are conducted using agreed-upon engagement procedures. We analyze the project's accounting records and financial statements, procurement documentation, project purchase orders, evidence of services provided, payments, purchases, travel, tax obligations, employee records, and other relevant data.

The key objective of the audit is to verify the intended use of funds during the project, in accordance with general accounting principles. The audit also includes an assessment of the justification and reality of the costs incurred.

Why Kreston Croatia?

Kreston Croatia can offer its clients all types of project audit services, some of which are:

  • audit of projects financed directly from EU funds (Council of Europe, Eurimages, Creative Europe MEDIA, European Parliament),

  • audit of projects financed from other funds, e.g. Norway grant,

  • audit of projects financed through the Ministry of Finance (fondovieu – electronic system for financial monitoring of project implementation), and other Croatian institutions (Croatian Audiovisual Centre – HAVC),

  • regular consultations and supervision during the project with the ultimate goal of preventing all irregularities that may lead to the withdrawal of secured funds.

Contracting a project audit

A project audit is usually contracted at the end of the project implementation, when it represents the last activity in its implementation. However, in practice, audits are increasingly contracted in earlier stages of implementation, in order to enable timely reaction and prevent potential irregularities during the implementation of the entire project.
